Getting laid off can be the scariest time in the world for just about anyone, but if it opens an unexpected door it could be a blessing in disguise.
Lia Ricci-Sons is a holistic healer, a passion of hers for quite some time, but it never became a full-time career until she was let go from her job at a spiritual development center on the campus of Bowling Green.
"I had no idea what I was going to do," said Ricci-Sons.
It was a scary time, but she quickly realized her goal in life, which is to offer balance and health through a holistic approach.
"In southern Ohio, central Ohio holistic healing is booming, so we are going to make that happen here," said Ricci-Sons.
She took this time of unemployment and turned it into Asherah's Garden, a business she runs out of her home.
"It's a bit tight, and I'm considering finding a part time job to supplement, but I'm not going to give up Ashera's garden," said Ricc-Sons.
She hopes Asherah's Garden will one day flourish into a full-time career.
"I'm getting to do something that I love, every time I work with Asherah's Garden. I'm happy, I'm relaxed, I'm more balanced," said Ricci-Sons.
It's the same state of mind she strives for, for her clients, "it's rewarding to watch someone grow and become more confident, balanced, relaxed, that is my favorite part."
