An Ohio State Trooper was killed Thursday evening and another trooper injured after an accident in Wyandot County.

Police said the accident happened near the town of Carey on Township Road 95, just south of State Route 103.

The two troopers were on a back up call to assist the Wyandot County Sheriff when the cruiser went off the side of the road and into a ditch. Both officers had to be cut from the car.

Trooper Andrew Baldridge, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Mark McLaughlin, 33, was transported via helicopter to Toledo St.Vincent Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition late Thursday night.

Baldridge graduated from the state patrol academy in December. He was the class speaker at the graduation ceremony.

Baldridge and McLaughlin were both assigned to the Bucyrus Post.
