An southwest Ohio man charged in four killings has pleaded guilty to murder and other charges in two of the cases, involving women who died in 2006.
The pleas from Anthony Kirkland, 41, came Thursday in Cincinnati before the start of opening statements in his trial. He remains on trial in the deaths of two teenage girls.
The registered sex offender was arrested in March 2009 and accused of strangling Esme Kenney, 13, weeks after his release from a halfway house. Kirkland also is charged in the 2006 killing of Casonya Crawford, 14.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the teens' killings.
Kirkland's pleas in the murders of Kimya Rolison, 27, and Mary Jo Newton, 45, bring the possibility of two life prison terms.
