According to a new business Web site, Portfolio.com, Cleveland is one stressful city.
"How did we get that?" Cleveland resident Billy Bass said. "How could you be stressed in a city as beautiful as Cleveland?"
Portfolio.com claimed that the city's unemployment rate of 9.3 percent, FBI crime statistics, and more than 400 deaths caused by heart failure, hypertension, and stroke, puts Cleveland at No. 3 on its list, ONN's Cristin Severance reported on Tuesday.
The Web site said that the numbers are based on information from government agencies and private firms.
"I think about this list, and like most of the ones I see, they are not scientific, they are not impartial. The purpose of these list most of the times are to sell publications and attract attention or generate controversy," said Dennis Roach, president of Positively Cleveland.
Cleveland tourism officials said that for every negative list that they are on, there's a positive one.
In 2009, Forbes Magazine reported that Cleveland was one of the safest cities and one of the best places for singles.
"We find that time and time again when someone visits Cleveland, they are surprised at what exists here," Roach said. "We should make a list of who those people are."
People living in the so-called "stressful city" seem to agree.
"I feel like they are always talking negative about Cleveland. I don't think so," said resident Christine Moore.
"It can be stressful, but if you have initiative, there can be a lot of opportunities," said resident Shawn Bilovecky.
Detroit was ranked the No. 1 most stressful city, while Salt Lake City was the least stressed.
