Make Your Tailgate 'Green' This Season

Tailgaters pack in around football stadiums across Ohio every weekend during the fall. 

With excited fans and delicious food, these are sights to be seen. 

While walking around and taking in those sights, some fans are now carrying their drinks in a sustainable container instead of a plastic bottle, reported ONN's Harrison Hove. 

"Choose something glass or stainless steel. Those will be your safest options," said Heather Johnson, owner of Generation Green. "We've even got things like slings so you can wear the bottle with you so you can be hands free for all your tailgating."

There are also great sustainable solutions to keep your favorite beer or wine from breaking while in transit.

 "We have things like the neoprene bags that not only keep it protected against breakage, but also help keep it cold. Or you can opt to do things like stainless steel. (We have a) stainless steel wine carafe," Johnson said.

The food is usually the best part of a tailgate. Elaborate spreads and team themed dishes are always hits. 

And now, you can keep your food waste out of the garbage, Hove reported. 

"You can throw all your organic matter, basically just put your food in here, take it home and compost it later to these biodegradable wipes where one single wipe will outlast 17 rolls of paper towels," Johnson said.

Botanical germ-killing spray and organic hand wipes using essential oils are other handy green clean-up items that you might want to bring to the game. 

Whatever you choose, bring a reusable tote full of goodies and try to leave the plastic bags at home.
