Ohio's new gun law is less than two weeks old and already the first incident has been reported in the state.
It happened at the H and H Tavern in Cincinnati, ONN's Lot Tan reported on Thursday.
Police said that Chad O'Reilly got into an argument with another man inside the tavern. As the fight escalated, O'Reilly went outside and returned a few minutes later with his gun.
According to police reports, O'Reilly is a concealed permit holder and was allegedly waving his gun around threatening to kill the man.
"There is no reason to let the action of one moron effect the outcome of 250,000 honest Ohio license holders," said Joe Eaton with the Buckeye Firearms Association.
Eaton said that he does not defend the man's behavior.
"Everything he chose to do was illegal and should be illegal," Eaton said. "Buckeye Firearms supports having him prosecuted to the full extent."
Jarrett Hawkins has had drinks inside the H and H Tavern and said that he supports a person's right to carry a concealed weapon, but also thinks Ohio's newest law needs to be re-examined.
The law states that permit holders are allowed to bring guns into bars but they are not permitted to drink, Tan reported.
"It seems fairly unrealistic to me," said Hawkins. "You go to a bar to drink. If you want to carry a gun then you shouldn't be going to a bar to drink."
Toby Hoover is the executive director of the Ohio Coalition against Gun Violence.
Hoover called then new law absurd.
"He may not have intention but he did, just like people may not have intention to drink and drive, but they do," said Hoover. "Why put circumstance, gun and alcohol together? Not a good idea."
O'Reilly was arraigned in court on Thursday. A judge ordered him to pay a $20,000 bond. He is charged with aggravated menacing, violating CCW laws and ethnic intimidation.
If O'Reilly is found guilty then his concealed carry permit will be revoked. If O'Reilly is convicted that would prohibit him from owing a gun in Cincinnati.
