The leaves are turning bright yellows and reds before making their annual trek down to the ground, descending on your lawn. That means the brown yard waste bags can't be far behind.
"They're difficult to open, they're hard to fill. Once they're full, taking them to the curb is a challenge. If it rains, the bottom gets soggy and it gives out," said Chelsea Duncan with Dsolv Bags.
The Columbus company has invented a green product, Dsolv compostable mesh lawn bags, making yard waste pick up easier, reported ONN's Harrison Hove.
"It comes with a sleeve that you put inside the mesh bag. That helps hold it open and makes it easier to use that the paper so it doesn't fold over and fall as you're trying to fill it," said Duncan.
The Dsolv bags are certified and guaranteed to breakdown within 180 days.
You won't know the bags ever existed which is different from a biodegradable product.
"Biodegradable means just over some period of time something will break down into smaller pieces. It doesn't mean it will go away and there's no time specification on that," added Duncan.
As those leaves dance down to the ground, the compostable Dsolv bags are waiting.
The bags, gallon for gallon, cost about the same as those traditional brown paper bags.
"If you drill it down to gallon to gallon cost, we're comparable with a paper bag."
