New evidence was revealed on Wednesday in the hate crime case against an Amish sect.
Sam Mullet, who is the leader of the Amish group, his two sons and his son-in-law appeared in federal court in Youngstown.
Prosecutors said that Mullet was the mastermind behind the hate crimes where seven men cut the beards and hair of other Amish people for not following Mullet's group.
Evidence shown to the judge included drug, sex and attacks recorded on video.
The lead FBI Agent on the case took the stand on Wednesday and was interviewed by the federal prosecutor, ONN's Cristin Severance reported.
The agent told the judge that during the raid on Sam Mullet's 800 acre property, agents found Sam Mullet in a bedroom with a wife of one of the co-defendants doing "sexual counseling".
Agents also found scissors and clippers used in alleged attacks. Marijuana seeds and Cocaine was found in a barn on the property where several individuals lived.
When agents went to arrest one of the co-defendants in the case, Emanuel Schrock, Schrock barricaded himself in a room with a child. The child had to be pried out of the hands of Schrock before he was arrested.
Agents also found recorded jail conversations between Mullet and other men that made it seem like two of the attacks were recorded.
One man also said he was forced to live in a chicken coop by Mullet for 12 days.
Each of the co-defendants had their own representation who could also interview the witnesses.
Attorney Andrew Hyde represented five of the seven co-defendants when this was a state case before it became a federal one. Hyde said that it is no co-incidence that these salacious details were put out there.
"This is what's upsetting with how they are proceeding with this case. They are trying to win over public sentiment and win over the public by putting these outrageous facts out there which I'm glad the trial process is going to force them to back that up," said Hyde.
The judge ordered all four Mullet defendants to remain detained.
The three other co-defendants in the case will appear Friday in front of that same federal judge.
