Casino executives say a 60 by 60 foot area on the second floor of the casino collapsed sending 20 workers crashing to the ground, at least 11 people were hurt they were sent to the hospital, reported ONN's Lot Tan.

Dozens of fire trucks and emergency crews responded of the corner of Reading and Broadway Street since just before 8:00 a.m.

"They were doing a pour and the steel fell and it collapsed," said Tim Faturte, construction worker.

Fire officials say those hurt suffered bruises, bumps and possibly some broken bones.

Investigators and OSHA inspectors are trying to find out exactly what happened.

Rock Ohio Caesar's Steve Rosenthal denies allegations that workers were rushed. He said it was a scheduled pour.

The company released the following statement about the building collapse:

"A full investigation by Rock Ohio Caesars Construction Team, OHSA , City building inspectors, and the Cincinnati Fire Department is now underway to determine the cause of this morning’s collapse of a 60’x 60’ bay within the casino facility.

We are thankful to report that there were no life-threatening injuries to any workers who were in the area at the time of the incident. On behalf of the entire ownership and casino construction team, we wish those workers a quick recovery.  We would also like to thank Cincinnati’s firefighters, police and first-responders who provided on-site medical care, quickly transported workers to area hospitals and secured the site.

At this time the worksite is closed, and work will not resume until the construction team and OSHA determine that it is safe to do so.  On Friday, January 27 at approximately 7:45 a.m. a single bay of the facility collapsed as concrete was being poured. The casino is located at the former Broadway Commons site at Reading Road, Broadway and Court Streets."

A partial collapse of a garage at another Ohio casino under construction occurred last month. The same developers are behind that casino, in Cleveland. No one was injured.

Casino executives said they do not anticipate Friday's collapse will affect opening day which is scheduled for spring of 2013.
