One day after news was released that former Ohio State University head football coach Jim Tressel sold his Upper Arlington home, sources told ONN affiliate WBNS News on Wednesday that Tressel is in talks with the University of Akron about an administrative position.
A spokesman with the University of Akron said that university officials talked with Tressel in December when the former coach assisted the school in a search for a head football coach.
The university discussed Tressel’s professional goals outside of athletics and said “we share a common interest in innovative programs for student success.”
Tressel served as a replay consultant for the Indianapolis Colts this past season, and 10TV Sports reported that Tressel talked with Colts owner Jim Irsay at least twice about the head coach position with the team.
Tressel was not immediately available for comment.
Tressel began his coaching career at Akron as a graduate assistant.
