The governor honored three extraordinary Ohioans during his State of the State address on Tuesday.
One of the people honored was a west Portsmouth woman, who created a statewide movement in the war on prescription drug abuse.
Jo Anna Krohn is back home after attending yesterdays address as a special guest, reported ONN's Denise Alex.
Krohn attended the much-anticipated meeting to receive a special courage award from Gov. Kasich for her fight against the Ohio prescription drug abuse epidemic.
Krohn said that her goal was simple: to save others from the same disease that was responsible for her son's death.
Krohn's son overdosed on drugs before shooting himself in the head in 2010.
Krohn formed the Scioto County support group SOLACE (Surviving Our Loss and Continuing Everyday).
"It was the greatest honor of my life. I don't know, words just can't describe how I felt, how proud I was of what I had accomplished," Krohn said.
