The son of U.S. Representative Steve Chabot is charged with breaking and entering, disorderly conduct and making a false alarm,  ONN affiliate WKRC-TV reported.

Brandon "Randy" Chabot is a student at Miami University.

Oxford Police told WKRC that they found the 22-year-old at 2:05 a.m. Sunday morning outside the McCullough Hyde Annex building on Morningside Road. They arrived at the building after a fire alarm had sounded.

When they questioned Chabot police said that he appeared highly intoxicated and gave off a strong odor of alcohol. They said that Chabot falsely claimed he worked in the building.

Upon further investigation police discovered two panes of glass were kicked out of a door to the building.

Congressman Chabot made the following statement this morning in response to questions surrounding his son's arrest.

"Every family faces challenges at times. Ours is no different. He's our son and we love him," said the statement.
