The Ohio Casino Commission Control board announced the two opening dates for the Cleveland and Toledo casino's on Wednesday.
The Cleveland Horseshoe Casino is slated to open the week of May 14. The Toledo Hollywood Casino is slated to open the week of May 28.
Cleveland Horseshoe General Manager Marcus Glover opened the meeting with an update for the board on the progress of the Cleveland site. Glover said that the carpet was done on the main gaming floor and that the rest of the carpet will be in place next week.
Glover also mentioned that work on the casino's garage is also progressing on schedule after the partial collapse in December.
Earlier this month, gaming consultant Spectrum Gaming recommended the state delay the opening of two Ohio casinos this year because there would not be adequate time to investigate the facilities for licensing before planned openings.
The Cleveland casino was originally slated to open March 26 and the Toledo casino April 1.
Ohio counties were expected to receive somewhere between $32 and $44 million in casino tax money this year. However, the delay in opening the Hollywood Casino in Toledo and the Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland has greatly reduced those amounts.
