A judge has sentenced an southeast Ohio couple to 12 years in prison each following their conviction in the drowning of the woman's 3-year-old son and disappearance of his 2-year-old brother during a camping trip.

The sentences were handed down Tuesday by Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Fleegle for Kasey Klein and her husband Richard Klein Jr. of Zanesville.

Authorities have said that the boys wandered away from a family campsite near the Muskingum River in June. The older boy's body was found in the water within hours, but the younger boy has not been found.

The couple was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

A prosecutor argued the couple's irresponsibility led to the deaths.
