Sheriff’s deputies were looking for an inmate they said escaped from a holding area early Tuesday morning.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Jeramiah Searles was being held at an annex near the Southeastern Correctional Institution, located at 5900 B.I.S. Rd. in Lancaster.

Investigators said that they found Searles was unaccounted for just before midnight.

Investigators said that they believed he scaled a fence with razor wire to escape. Searles is believed to be wearing a light blue jail outfit, though some clothing was found attached to the wire.

According to officials, Searles was being held on falsification charges and has a felony warrant out of Missouri, Ramos reported.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 740-652-7240.
