Millions Wait For Power

Governor Strickland on Monday afternoon declared a state of emergency throughout Ohio.

Strickland says more than 1.9 million customers are without power and more than 450 school districts cancelled classes on Monday.
Counties that have declared declarations of disaster include Butler, Clark, Delaware, Greene, Hamilton, Knox, Licking, Madison, Montgomery, Morrow and Seneca.
The Ohio Deparment of Transportation says 46 roads have been restricted or closed. Those do not include roads that have been closed on the county and city level.
According to Strickland, nearly a third of traffic signals in the state are not operating. When you come to an intersection that has a light that is not working, you are to treat it as a four way stop.
Mayor Michael Coleman in Columbus and Mayor Mark Mallory in Cincinnati also held news conferences to talk about city response to the emergency and where residents can get help.
Duke Energy officials say at 90 percent of their customers have lost power since Sunday and they are continuing to work to restore electrictiy to more than 500-thousand customers.
AEP indicates more than 625-thousand people remain without power.
