She tells beautiful stories without using a single word.
"And then I'm going to have you looking at each other. Can you two give each other a hug?" asks Amy Parrish of two of her subjects.
A photo shoot with Parrish is all about being yourself and having fun.
"It really just comes naturally I think."
Kids and adults feel comfortable around Parrish and it shows.
This 20-something photographer from Washington County recently opened a photography studio in Columbus. She uses it and studio props as backdrops.
Parrish says she never envisioned this would be her career. She graduated from Otterbein College with a Speech Communications degree and a love of theater. Still, she uses her imagination, playfulness, and talent to capture living life to the fullest.
"If you hold it from the middle or bottom they are going to fly out a little better," Amy playfully said to sisters Ally and Emily Matta who were enjoying a pillow fight while allowing Amy to take great pictures at the same time. Amy's dog Jenkins, also a favorite photography subject, has his mug on greeting cards.
"I always tell people when they are viewing their pictures that I can brag about her a little," said Amy's husband Ryan who is also her business partner.
Her work speaks for itself. Memories she captures on her camera tell stories of life and love even when loved ones pass on.
"Heather Pick (WBNS-TV news anchor who battled cancer) and Stefanie Spielman (former NFL wife who battled cancer). Photographing them and seeing really how important your job is, " said Amy.
Images that make you cry, make you smile.
Amy Parrish, making memories for all to embrace, one click at a time.
"I'm impressed that I can be continually be impressed," said Ryan.
