Doctors were expected to assess Henry Butler's condition and decide if he will be discharged Wednesday from The Ohio State University Medical Center.
Butler, 60, was wounded early Tuesday morning when custodial employee Nathaniel Brown walked inside the OSU maintenance building and opened fire. Butler's injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Brown also shot and killed building services manager Larry Wallington, 48, before fatally shooting himself.
Friends described Wallington as well-liked man who was friendly to everyone he met.
"You know, he was one of those guys that would do anything for you," said friend Donel Braswell. "His dad owned a little carryout down there on Joyce and 17th (avenues). Nice family, real nice family."
University administrators said at least six other employees were inside the maintenance building at the time of the shooting. Those employees were offered grief counseling.
Investigators said Tuesday that the shooting at Ohio State appeared to be job-related.
Brown learned last week that he was going to be fired after his job performance was rated "unsatisfactory" for reasons that included getting caught sleeping on the job.
10TV also learned that Brown was working with a mortgage lender and a mediator to keep his north side home from entering foreclosure.
"He seemed to be a pretty good dude to me," said Hubert Brown, a neighbor. "He was happy to be back at work, so I don't know what went on. He snapped for some reason."
