Not only does she lead a team of marketers for Bob Evans Farms, she volunteers for many organizations in central Ohio.
Plus one of her two sons will get married in the spring. Her mother, who lives close by, is in the late stages of Alzheimer's.
"My home life is really busy between volunteerism with something such as 'Action For Children', 'The German Village Society' in my own neighborhood, to the pressures, but the energy around positioning this brand Bob Evans and making it really relevant for today's family to my own family," Cusick said.
Cusick joined the Bob Evans Farms family more than 30 years ago.
Shortly after she graduated from Miami University in Oxford, she heard about a position as the "Assistant Director of Public Relations" from her younger sister.
She bought a bus ticket, made a portfolio in two days, and borrowed a suit to interview at corporate headquarters.
"Never discount anything! Tell everybody you're looking for a job, because my tenth grade sister helped me network my job," Cusick said.
Company founder, Bob Evans, quickly became a mentor to Cusick.
"He was someone who really helped shape my ability to think and look around the world," said Cusick.
When asked about her YWCA Women of Achievement Award, Cusick used a line her mentor might have used in one of his many acceptance speeches, "Thank you so much! I so appreciate the recognition, now I better get out there and earn this award."
Mary Cusick is one of six YWCA Women of Achievement. The 25th class will be honored at a luncheon on April 7, 2010 and ONN will feature each incredible woman in our "Ohio's Woman" segment on Wednesdays.
